The ECB has confirmed this arrangement and said that this series to be held in England comes under ICC rules, hence all safeguarding rules will be applicable. Along with this, ECB’s own “Safe Hands” policy will also remain in force during the entire tour. Its objective is to ensure the safety and mental and physical protection of young players. However, according to reports, this rule will be limited to changing rooms only. This will not have any impact on Vaibhav’s cricket activities.
Vaibhav will be fully involved in matches and team activities
According to British media reports, Vaibhav will be fully involved in all cricket related work of Team India. He will be a part of the dressing room during the matches, participate in team meetings, practices and will be present in all other activities. They will be given separate arrangements only at the time of changing clothes before and after the match.
This rule will not apply on Ireland tour
This rule is being implemented under the ICC’s jurisdiction during the England tour, but there will be no such restriction in the two T20 matches against Ireland. The Ireland Series is held under the control of Cricket Ireland, so these safeguarding rules will not apply there.
Normal arrangements already in domestic cricket and IPL
There is no such strict system in domestic cricket and IPL in India. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already shared the same dressing room with senior players while playing for Rajasthan Royals and did not have to face any separate arrangement.
