New Delhi, June 27 (IANS). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday said Indian entrepreneurs should always keep in mind that when they put ‘Made in India’ label on a product, they are representing not just themselves but the entire country.
In a post on social media platform ‘X’, the Union Minister said that for Indian entrepreneurs, quality is not just a business standard but a responsibility towards the nation.
Piyush Goyal shared the example of Akil Panaruna, founder of Florence Shoe Company based in Ambur, Tamil Nadu, whom he met during the Business Plenary session held in London.
Akil told them that an international customer saw a luxury shoe of Hugo Boss brand at Cairo airport. When he saw the label of the shoe, ‘Made in India’ was written on it. This shoe was prepared in Akil’s company.
Goyal said that for entrepreneurs like Akil, quality is not just a yardstick to measure the company’s performance, but it is their responsibility towards the country.
He said that Aqeel’s work is not only limited to bringing Indian craftsmanship to the world’s biggest brands, but he has also created large-scale employment in rural areas, empowered women in the manufacturing sector and also adopted eco-friendly technologies like ‘Zero Liquid Discharge’.
Piyush Goyal further said that as trade relations between the two countries are strengthening through the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), entrepreneurs like Akil are proving to the whole world that ‘Brand India’ stands at the highest standards globally today.
He congratulated all such entrepreneurs who are making ‘Made in India’ a symbol of trust, excellence and pride and setting new standards for the world.
Earlier in the day, Piyush Goyal participated in a roundtable meeting with senior executives from Asia House and the world’s leading companies. During this, discussions were held on strengthening economic partnership and new opportunities for the future.
He said that during the meeting, India’s strong manufacturing ecosystem and the immense potential in various sectors were highlighted, through which India-UK CETA can further strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
Goyal also held an interactive lunch meeting with members of the UK India Business Council (UKIBC), which was attended by top executives from many of the world’s leading companies.
He said that the main objective of this discussion was to identify new business opportunities, accelerate investment and advance common development by increasing cooperation in various fields. Besides, special emphasis was also laid on further strengthening India’s global competitiveness.
