New Delhi, June 30 (IANS). Congress MP K.C. Venugopal has raised questions regarding ‘Operation Sindoor’ by posting a post on the social media platform ‘X’.

How. Venugopal wrote in the ‘X’ post, “During the debate on ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the Lok Sabha, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh lied to the people of India. This was a blatant lie told to mislead the House.” He wrote that how could they say in July 2025 that no Indian soldier was martyred and then a year later the Army should announce that we have lost 6 soldiers?

How. Venugopal wrote, “It is a grave insult to the families of these six martyrs and the entire Army that the people of India were not told about their bravery and supreme sacrifice. They laid down their lives defending the country from the enemies, and the so-called nationalist government told blatant lies about their martyrdom.”

He further wrote, “It is a settled rule that if a Minister misleads the House or hides information, it amounts to a breach of privilege and contempt of the House. In this regard, I have written a letter to the Honorable Lok Sabha Speaker requesting him to initiate breach of privilege proceedings against the Defense Minister.”

In a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, he said, “On July 28, 2025, during the discussion on the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor, the Defense Minister had inter alia said that if you ask a question, ask whether our soldiers suffered any loss in this operation? The answer is no.”

He has written in the letter that contrary to the statement, a statement has been issued that six soldiers were martyred during Operation Sindoor. He wrote, “His statement was clearly misleading and false. It is well established that misleading the House or concealing information from the House by a Minister is a breach of privilege and contempt of the House.”

“I request that privilege proceedings be initiated against the Defense Minister in this matter,” he wrote.
