Controversy has arisen in Odisha regarding new school books. The state had implemented the new education policy in 2020. Earlier too, questions were raised regarding many mistakes in the books, but now a new controversy has started regarding the inclusion of a film song in the book of class 8 ‘Art Education’. In this book named *Kriti*, the famous song “Nimbuda-Nimbuda” from the film *Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam* has been included; Actually, it is a traditional Rajasthani folk song. Apart from this, the song “Rind Posh Maal” from the film *Mission Kashmir* has also been included in it.

**Outcry on social media; Users raised questions**

The inclusion of such songs in books has created a stir on social media and users are raising questions. The general opinion is that Odia folk songs and classical music should be given priority in schools in Odisha. Many also say that the curriculum should include songs that promote local culture and traditions.

**There were concerns earlier also regarding education policy; Demand for action**

Some time back, there was a huge uproar over the issue of 1,678 mistakes being found in the new syllabus, leading to criticism of the government from teachers and opposition parties. Considering the seriousness of the current situation, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered an investigation. Meanwhile, people of Jaipur have expressed displeasure over the inclusion of Rajasthani folk song “Nimbuda” and are demanding action.
