Lucknow, July 1 (IANS). On the occasion of National Doctor’s Day, a health awareness program and doctor honor ceremony was organized in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. State Finance Minister Suresh Khanna participated in this program as the chief guest. During this, he described the role of doctors as invaluable for the society and said that medicine is not just a profession but the biggest medium of human service.

Addressing the program, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said, “The job of doctors is to save the lives of the people and that is why the society considers them as God. This seminar organized by MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh will prove useful for improving the health sector. In such events, the views and suggestions of experts come forward, which the government is committed to implement seriously.”

He said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, health facilities in Uttar Pradesh have expanded rapidly. A large number of new medical colleges have been established in the state, while the number of undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) seats in medical education has also been increased significantly. The budget of the health sector has been continuously increased, so that no citizen of the state is deprived of essential medical facilities.”

Suresh Khanna said that the aim of the government is to provide quality health services to every person of the state. Praising the dedication of the doctors, he said that when a patient’s life is saved, the doctor becomes the form of God for him. He also wished all the doctors a Happy Doctor’s Day.

Meanwhile, Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh said, “Thanks to medical science, the world has conquered serious diseases like polio and small pox. At the time of independence, the average life expectancy in the country was about 35 years, which has now increased to about 70 years. There is an important contribution of doctors and medical science behind this.”

Recalling the role played by doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic, he said, “Many doctors served the people without caring for their lives and many doctors even sacrificed their lives. Respect for such medical warriors is inadequate.”

Dr. Rajeshwar Singh also set the target of making Sarojini Nagar the ‘Health Capital’ of Uttar Pradesh and Lucknow the ‘Health Capital’ of the country. He said, “To promote medical tourism, special attention will be given to environment-friendly arrangements like development of modern hospitals, effective management of biomedical waste, use of solar energy and rain water harvesting. The future health infrastructure should be modern, sustainable and public interest centric.”
