Jodhpur, July 4 (IANS). Rajasthan’s ‘Blue City’ Jodhpur is going to get a big gift on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new terminal building of Jodhpur Airport built at a cost of Rs 480 crore.
In the same program, he will also launch the revised UDAN scheme to further strengthen regional air connectivity. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will also be present on this occasion.
Inspired by the royal heritage of Rajasthan, this modern terminal building has been constructed over an area of approximately 23,342 square meters. The new terminal will be capable of handling 20 lakh passenger movements every year. For the convenience of passengers, 20 modern check-in counters have been created here, which will make the travel experience easier and more convenient than before.
This terminal has been constructed keeping the environment in mind and aims to achieve a 5-star GRIHA rating. Equipped with modern facilities, this terminal will provide a world-class travel experience to the passengers and will be recognized as a new gateway to Jodhpur.
PM Modi will also launch the revised UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme in the same program. This scheme is being considered a major step towards giving new impetus to regional air connectivity in India and strengthening the civil aviation sector.
The government has made a provision of Rs 28,840 crore to further strengthen regional air connectivity over the next 10 years. Through this investment, the target has been set to connect remote and small cities of the country with better air services, develop new air routes and promote balanced regional development.
The Government believes that the revised UDAN scheme will accelerate the next phase of development of civil aviation and further advance the vision of ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik’. Jodhpur’s new airport terminal will not only strengthen the modern identity of Rajasthan, but will also play an important role in giving a new boost to tourism, trade and regional development.
