Raipur, July 6 (IANS). Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel left for a five-day tour of Punjab in connection with the preparations for the Punjab Assembly elections. Before leaving from Raipur, he said that election preparations have been intensified in Punjab and after the announcement of various committees, work will now be done to strengthen the organization and election strategy. He said, “I am going to Punjab. Committees have been announced and now preparations have to be made for the elections.”
Before leaving for Punjab, former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel also cornered the BJP government on many contemporary issues of the state. Responding to BJP leader Vinay Katiyar’s statement regarding Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, he said that he was the first to raise questions about Dhirendra Shastri. Baghel said that now Dhirendra Shastri is dressing up as a sadhu and saying that he is scared whereas a true sadhu is not afraid of anyone. He sarcastically said that those who did not spare big people, why would they spare anyone else?
The former Chief Minister also targeted the state government regarding waterlogging after rain in many areas of Raipur city. He said that the state government should take full responsibility for this. There is a need to raise the roads and make better drainage arrangements. Despite being a “Triple Engine Government”, even the areas around the National Highway are submerged, which raises questions on the working style of the State Government.
Bhupesh Baghel also made a scathing attack on the BJP government regarding the action taken to remove encroachment in Nakti village. He alleged that the government is continuously lying in this matter and misleading the public. He claimed that in a letter issued by Ankit Anand, the Collector was instructed to remove encroachment from Nakti village so that the concerned land could be allotted to the MLAs. BJP MLA Dharamjit Singh had also raised this issue in the Assembly and parliamentary decorum was violated during the minister’s reply.
Bhupesh Baghel said that no one in the state has accepted the action taken in Nakti village and it was a completely wrong decision. The BJP government is in serious trouble and is trying to divert attention from public issues.
