Tensions have been rising in the Middle East for several months, leading to a worldwide energy crisis. Fuel prices, especially in India’s neighboring countries, have increased significantly. Fuel prices are increasing again and again and the effect of inflation is clearly visible. The Pakistan government has once again increased the prices of petrol and diesel. According to a report by *Dawn*, the price of petrol in Pakistan has been increased by Pakistani rupees 13.18 and the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Pakistani rupees 13.80. This decision was taken due to the increase in crude oil prices.
After this increase, the price of petrol in Pakistan has become Rs 310.71 per liter and the price of high-speed diesel has become Rs 323.30 per liter. According to the notification issued by the Petroleum Department, the new prices have come into effect immediately. This means that the economic burden on the people of Pakistan will increase.
**Recent big cuts**
It is noteworthy that Pakistan had increased the prices of petrol and diesel significantly earlier also. On February 28, the price of diesel was Rs 281 per liter, which increased to Rs 530.35 per liter by April 3. Similarly, the price of petrol on April 3 was Rs 458.41 per liter, which was Rs 266 per liter in the first week of March. After reaching this high, the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel had come down significantly.
**How many times have the prices of petrol and diesel increased in India?**
Amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, petrol and diesel prices in India have also been increased four times. In four separate changes, the total hike comes to ₹7.8 per liter for petrol and ₹8.7 per liter for diesel. After this increase, the price of petrol in the capital Delhi has become ₹ 102.12 per liter and the price of diesel has become ₹ 95.20 per liter.
International petrol and diesel prices
Amidst the ongoing conflict, there has been a lot of fluctuation in the prices of crude oil in the international market. Recently, due to the war, Brent crude oil prices had risen to $126 per barrel, but after the peace talks began, they fell sharply and fell below $72 per barrel. Currently it is trading at $76.01 per barrel.
