Plans are being run by the central government to install solar panels in people’s homes. One such scheme is the PM Surya Ghar Yojana under which the government gives subsidy to install solar panels. There is a question in the minds of people about this scheme whether people will have to install new meters under this scheme. So let’s answer this.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of PM Surya Ghar Yojana earlier this year. Under this scheme, a solar panel will be installed in every house to reduce electricity bills. The government has set a target to benefit one crore people under this scheme.

In this scheme, subsidy will be given by the government for installing solar panels. So under this scheme, meters will also be changed in people’s homes and new meters will be installed. For which people will have to pay charge. Talking about the charge of the new meter, it is currently around 2000 rupees.

Under this scheme, Rs 18 thousand for 1 kW, Rs 30,000 for 2 kW and 3 kW solar panels will be given as subsidy by the government on behalf of Rs 78,000. To take advantage of the scheme, first you have to go to its official portal PMsuryagarh.gov.in. After this, click on apply for rooftop solar on the home page.

Then the registration page will open in front of you. Where you have to enter your state, district, electricity distribution company/utility, consumer account number. Then an OTP will come on your number and after entering it, you have to fill the captcha. After this, registration will be done as soon as you click on submit. After this, you will be able to log in and apply.
