New Delhi, July 19 (IANS). New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vice Chairman Kuljit Singh Chahal on Sunday led the plantation drive for the 33rd consecutive Sunday under the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name_On Sunday’ campaign at the Women’s Technical Institute, Netaji Nagar.

Continuing his commitment towards a green future every Sunday, on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chahal appealed to the citizens to actively participate in this mass movement for environmental protection.

Addressing the program, Chahal said that the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam_On Sunday’ campaign has completed 33 consecutive Sundays. This shows increasing awareness and active participation among citizens towards environmental protection.

He said that apart from the weekly plantation drive, NDMC is also organizing large scale plantation programs in collaboration with universities, embassies and various institutions.

Chahal lauded the dedicated efforts of the NDMC team and said that such collective efforts are playing an important role in making New Delhi more green, clean, beautiful and eco-friendly.

He said that merely planting trees is not enough, but their regular care, protection and maintenance is equally important. This should be taken as a shared responsibility of all.

People participating in the program appreciated the campaign and said that ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ is not just a tree plantation campaign, but it is an inspiring mass movement, which reminds the society of its responsibility towards nature and motherhood.

Chahal said that ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ is not just a tree plantation campaign, but it is a people’s movement reflecting emotional connect, social responsibility and environmental protection.

He said, “Every sapling planted in honor of our mother is a symbol of our gratitude to Mother Nature and lays a strong foundation for a clean, green and safe future for the coming generations.”

He said that the upgradation of Women’s Technical Institute will be an important step in this direction.

After the tree plantation programme, Chahal conducted a detailed inspection of NDMC Women’s Technical Institute located at Netaji Nagar.
