Dispatch of electric cars in India increased by 26.4 percent month-on-month in June 2026 and during this period Tata Motors stood first, Mahindra second and JSW MG Motor third.

Tata Motors continues to dominate electric car sales in India in June 2026. The company dispatched 14,657 electric cars in the domestic market, while in May 2026 the figure was 10,377 units. That means the company’s sales increased by 4,280 units and a month-on-month (MoM) growth of 41.2 percent was recorded. Strong demand for Punch EV and Nexon EV has played a key role in this performance.

Tata’s Tiago EV has also been selling well, while the recently launched Sierra EV has further strengthened the company’s market position. The impact of its sales may become even more clearly visible in the coming months. The Sierra EV comes with two battery pack options and its real-world driving range is said to be up to 530 km.

Mahindra stood second with sales of 7,603 units in June 2026. In May, the company dispatched 7,031 units and thus its sales increased by 572 units and 8.1 percent. Although this was the lowest growth among the top four companies, Mahindra still maintained a good lead over third-placed JSW MG Motor.

JSW MG Motor took the third position with sales of 5,971 electric cars in June 2026. The company’s sales in May were 4,463 units. That means the company registered a monthly growth of 33.8 percent with an increase of 1,508 units. Maruti Suzuki remained at fourth position. The company dispatched 2,003 electric cars in June, while in May the figure was 1,439 units. In this way, an increase of 39.2 percent was recorded in the company’s sales.

Vinfast was the only brand in the top-5 whose sales declined. The company sold 1,928 units in June 2026, while 2,359 units were shipped in May. That means its sales declined by 18.3 percent. Kia stood at sixth position and its sales increased from 569 units to 711 units, registering a growth of 25 percent.

At the same time, Toyota has registered the highest percentage growth. The company shipped 459 electric cars in June 2026, whereas in May the figure was only 45 units. That means there was a tremendous increase of 920 percent in the company’s sales. The main reasons for this are believed to be the start of delivery of urban cruiser Ebella and expansion of export operations.

On the other hand, Hyundai’s sales declined to 253 units from 305 units, registering a decline of 17 per cent. At the same time, Citroen sold 71 units in June, whereas in May this figure was 32 units. The company recorded an increase of 121.9 percent, although overall sales were still limited.

Overall, the total dispatch of electric cars in India in June 2026 stood at 33,656 units, compared to 26,620 units in May 2026. In this way, a month-on-month growth of 26.4 percent was recorded in the electric car market, which shows the ever-increasing popularity of this segment.
