Chennai, July 20 (IANS). DMK’s youth wing completed 47 years of its formation on Monday. It is one of the most influential organizational units of the party and is considered an important milestone in its history.
On this occasion, Youth Wing Secretary and Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Udhayanidhi Stalin shared a message on social media. He appealed to the party workers to be ready for a new phase of working between politics and the public.
In a post on X, Udhayanidhi Stalin mentioned the journey of the Youth Wing. He said that this organization has grown from a small movement to one of the strongest organizations of DMK. He appealed to the party workers to further strengthen the organization and take the party’s ideology and welfare schemes to every person.
Udhayanidhi Stalin said in his post, “During the difficult times of the party, Misa Batch started the youth wing of DMK under the leadership of MK Stalin. Today this organization is entering its 47th year. Let us start a new inning of the youth wing by taking forward the activities related to public interest and ideology as per the needs of the time.”
Along with this, he also shared a memorable video, which shows the journey and achievements of the Youth Wing since its formation in the last several decades.
The youth wing of the DMK was officially recognized as an affiliated unit of the party during a program held in Madurai on 20 July 1980.
M.K. Stalin was made the first state coordinator of the youth wing. He led the organization for about 37 years from 1980 to 2017.
Under his leadership the Youth Wing expanded rapidly and became one of the most active and strong organizational units of the party. After this, on 4 July 2019, Udhayanidhi Stalin took over the post of State Secretary of Youth Wing.
Since assuming the post, he has done many things related to strengthening the organization and public interest. These include large-scale membership campaigns, connecting youth with the organization, cleaning of water bodies, environmental protection campaigns and many community service programs.
The youth wing formed youth committees at the local level, conducted door-to-door contact campaigns and strengthened the party’s grassroots organization by conducting large-scale membership drives across Tamil Nadu.
Party leaders say that the aim of these initiatives is to further strengthen the organization of DMK. Besides, its objective is also to take the party’s policies, schemes and welfare promises to the people in every part of the state.
