Guwahati, July 21 (IANS). Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday inaugurated the Digital Design and 3D Printing Center of Excellence in Guwahati. He said that this center will strengthen the manufacturing ecosystem of the state by promoting innovation, rapid prototyping and indigenous product development.
Giving this information on social media platform This will provide industries and entrepreneurs access to modern manufacturing technologies.
He informed that this center has been established with the aim of promoting innovation in health, aerospace, energy, agriculture and other emerging sectors. With its help, the process of designing, testing and developing new products will be faster and more effective than before.
Himanta Biswa Sarma said that this center will accelerate the development of new products as well as strengthen the competitiveness of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of Assam. Local entrepreneurs and startups will now be able to develop new and innovative products within the state, thereby reducing dependence on imported technologies and components.
He said, “This center will accelerate the development of new products and encourage our MSMEs to develop solutions in Assam itself. This will prove to be an effective step towards reducing dependence on imports.”
The Chief Minister said that the State Government is laying special emphasis on technology-based industrial development and this is an important initiative towards the broader goal of making Assam the manufacturing and innovation hub of North-East India.
Through this centre, researchers, students, startups and industries will have access to state-of-the-art design software, additive manufacturing technology and rapid prototyping facilities. This will help in converting new ideas into commercial products in less time.
The State Government believes that this initiative will play an important role in promoting innovation-based entrepreneurship, empowering the MSME sector and creating an enabling environment for high-value manufacturing.
According to a senior official, this center will help in bridging the gap between research and industry as well as adopting modern manufacturing technologies. This will promote the industrial diversification of Assam and will also strengthen the efforts to move the country towards self-reliant manufacturing.
