Gonda. A major railway accident was averted in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday when two coaches of a goods train parked on the yard line derailed. As soon as information about the incident was received, senior railway officials including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) reached the spot. A railway official told , “This goods train had come from Bathinda and was going towards NF Railway. Three bogies (trolleys) of two of its wagons derailed. There was redevelopment work here a few days ago and it has also rained recently. The cause of the incident will be investigated. All the wagons are being removed and their fitness will be certified after the track is repaired.” It is noteworthy that on July 19, a major accident was averted with Tata-Howrah Steel Express in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. While the train was passing near the railway bridge over Swarnarekha river in Galudih police station area, an overhead electric (OHE) wire broke and fell on the roof of a coach, due to which the train had to be stopped in the middle of the bridge.
According to railway sources, this incident took place near Chandrarekha village at around 7 am on July 19. During the passing of Steel Express going from Tatanagar to Howrah, suddenly the OHE wire broke, due to which the power supply was disrupted and the train was immediately stopped.
According to eyewitnesses, a loud crackling sound was heard before the incident, after which sparks were seen flying. Moments later, the high-tension OHE wire fell on the roof of the train, causing brief panic among the passengers. However, due to the promptness of the Railways, there were no casualties in this incident and a major accident was averted.
