Three people lost their lives due to lightning in Korba. The Meteorological Department has given an alert of heavy rain during the next 48 hours.
Monsoon is active in Chhattisgarh. Many rivers are in spate due to continuous rains in Chhattisgarh. Two children were washed away in the strong current of Shivnath river near Ganiyari village of Pulgaon police station area of Durg district. The body of one child was recovered while the search for the other child is ongoing. Three people died due to lightning during paddy transplantation on Saturday evening in Korba district of Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in many districts during the next 48 hours.
Three died due to lightning in Korba
Three people (Bahoran Patle, Lakshmi Chand Patle and Shyam Sahu) who were transplanting paddy in Chhuri Bakra market of Korba district of Chhattisgarh died due to lightning. After receiving the information, policemen of Katghora police station reached the hospital and started Panchnama and other legal action. The dead bodies have been sent for postmortem.
River drains in spate, two children washed away
Due to continuous rains, many rivers and streams in Chhattisgarh are in spate. On Friday evening, two children who had gone to take bath were washed away in the strong current of Shivnath river near Ganiyari village of Pulgaon police station area of Durg district. SDRF has recovered the body of one child while the search for the other child is ongoing. Both the children were from Urala area. Both of them had come to the river bank with their 6 friends to celebrate their birthday.
Where and how much rain?
During the last 24 hours, maximum rainfall of 30 mm was recorded in Dharamjaygarh. Lailunga, Korba, Kapu and Kharsia received 20-20 mm rainfall. Whereas 10-10 mm rain was recorded in Bijapur, Naya Baradwar, Kartala, Salhewara, Lal Bahadur Nagar, Kansabel, Pathalgaon and Manpur.

According to meteorologists, a cyclonic circulation has formed in the upper air over northern Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh. A trough extends through Jaisalmer, low pressure area of southwest Rajasthan, Kota, Guna, Sidhi and Daltonganj to northeast Bay of Bengal. A new low pressure area is expected to form in the same region within the next 24 hours.
Heavy rain warning for two days
Due to its effect, rainfall activities may increase in Central India including Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Department has advised people to avoid standing in open spaces and under trees during bad weather. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of heavy rain with thunderstorms in many parts of Chhattisgarh tomorrow i.e. on 26th and 27th July.
