Mumbai, July 28 (IANS). Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, while reviewing the functioning and construction work of Thane General Hospital, has directed the officials to complete the project expeditiously.
He said that it is the priority of the government to provide world-class and state-of-the-art health facilities to the people of Thane and surrounding Palghar district as soon as possible.
In the review meeting held at the Ministry, the Deputy Chief Minister took information about the progress of the 900-bed state-of-the-art District General Hospital, Women and Children’s Hospital and Super-Specialty Hospital project.
He told the officials that the pace of work should be increased at every stage of the project and any delay at the administrative level will not be accepted.
During the meeting, despite the completion of the construction work of the hospital building, the issue of the hospital not being able to start due to lack of electricity connection came up. On this, Eknath Shinde directed the concerned officials that the work of electricity connection required for the hospital should be completed on ‘fast track’ basis, so that health services can be started soon.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed to ensure regular and high-quality cleaning of the hospital premises, expedite the procurement process of state-of-the-art medical equipment and quickly complete the process of filling 1,078 new posts recently sanctioned by the government.
Under this important health project, three major hospitals will be operated on the same campus. This will include a 500-bed main district hospital, a 200-bed women and children’s hospital and a 200-bed referral service hospital. Apart from this, super-specialty departments like Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology and Oncology will also be available here.
Keeping in mind the serious patients and emergency services, provision of special facilities has also been made in the hospital. A helipad has been made on the roof of the building, where air ambulances can easily land if needed. Along with this, 16 modern surgical theaters will also be built in the hospital.
Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, Minister Dadaji Bhuse, Gulabrao Patil, Uday Samant and many senior officials and public representatives were present in the review meeting.
