Tokyo, 4 October (). Candidates led by Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) were invited to say a few words in English during a debate, Sane Taki kept his speech brief. He called a sentence that symbolized his dedication to Japan. He said ‘Japan is back.’ His victory on Saturday also indicates a separate Japan’s arrival: eight decades after the end of World War II, the country may find its first female Prime Minister.
The 64 -year -old right -wing, who cited Margaret Thatcher in his attempt to build a “strong and rich” Japan, defeated his rival Shinjiro Koizumi in the second round election held at LDP headquarters in Tokyo.
Former Economic Security and Home Minister, Takaichi, has often described Thacher as his source of inspiration, has been convinced of his strong character and determination.
He had told that he met “Iron Woman” Thatcher in 2013.
Unlike many predecessors, there is no assurance about the Prime Minister’s post will be elected in the meeting of Parliament on 15 October. LDP and its alliance partner, Comento, have lost their majority in both houses of Parliament in the last one year and Takaichi will have to depend on the opposition’s votes for approval – although observers believe it is almost certain.
This result is a major relief for Takaichi, who contested and failed against the outgoing Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba last year. Takaichi’s victory represents the victory of the right -wing side of LDP, who spent the last one year under the rule of liberal Ishiba.
Takaichi’s views meet former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (who was murdered in 2022). She has been a critic of China and goes regularly ‘Yasukuni pilgrimage’ in Tokyo. Where the people killed in the Japanese war, including war criminals, are paid tributes. Her image is quite conservative: she opposed gay marriage and does not allow married couples to have different surnames-this step is popular among voters and also rejects the Queen’s rule.
The newly appointed LDP president has predicted a re -interaction with the US on the trade and investment agreement with the US in which Donald Trump agreed to reduce the fees on Japanese cars and other items in exchange for Japanese investment of $ 550 billion.
During his election campaign, Takaichi had called for a ban on purchasing property and strict action on illegal immigration by non-Japanese people.
Taki Hanshin Tigers is a fan of the baseball team, has played drums in a heavy metal band while studying at the university and is in his hobby to watch martial arts along with scuba diving.
