Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday criticized the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for the ‘wasted’ situation of the education system in Bihar and said that this is why people are migrating to other states.

Addressing the skill convocation ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital, Prime Minister Modi alleged that neither schools nor any recruitment were opened during the Congress-RJD rule in Bihar.

He said, “Today’s generation will probably not guess how bad the education system of Bihar was two and a half decades ago. The schools did not open, nor were the recruitments. Who parents would not want their child to study and move forward? But lakhs of children were forced to leave Bihar and go to Varanasi, Delhi and Mumbai.

He appreciated Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and NDA government for improving the education system in the state.

He said, “Luckily the people of Bihar entrusted the responsibility of the government to Nitish Kumar and we are all witness to how the entire team of NDA brought the deteriorated system on track.”

Prime Minister Modi launched young-centered initiatives of more than Rs 100 crore.

Referring to projects worth Rs 62,000 crore, including the inauguration of Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Kaushal University in Bihar, he said, “I am happy that Bihar has got a new skill university at today’s Kaushal Celebration ceremony. Nitish Kumar’s government has named this university after Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur.”

The Prime Minister appreciated the Bihar government for generating 10 lakh permanent government jobs and increasing education budget as compared to the RJD-Congress rule.

PM Modi said, “In the last two decades, the Bihar government has connected 50 lakh youth with employment in Bihar. In the last few years, about 10 lakh permanent government jobs have been given to the youth of Bihar.”

He said, “The NDA government is working with full commitment to further enhance the capacity of the youth of Bihar. Bihar’s education budget has been increased manifold compared to the RJD-Congress rule. Today there is a school in almost every village in Bihar. Whether it is engineering colleges or medical colleges, their number has increased many times.”

He said, “There was a time when there was no infrastructure of international level related to sports in Bihar. Today, national and international sports events are being held in Bihar.”

Apart from this, PM Modi said that the youth have planned to buy a two -wheeler on the occasion of Dhanteras amid the ongoing ‘GST Savings Utsav’ after the implementation of the next generation GST reforms.

He said, “The ‘GST Savings Festival’ is going on in the country at this time. Some told me that the youth of Bihar are very happy with the reduction of GST on bikes and scooters. The youth have also planned to buy them on this Dhanteras. I also congratulate the youth of Bihar and the country for the lack of GST on most of the things they need.”

The Prime Minister said, “Before 2014, India was considered a delicate economy, that is, the growth rate was low. Employment was also very low. Today India is moving towards becoming one of the top three economies.”

Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi launched the Prime Minister’s Skill and Employment Change (PM-Setu) through advanced ITI, which is a centrally sponsored scheme with an investment of Rs 60,000 crore.

Prior to the assembly elections in Bihar, Prime Minister Modi launched the amended Chief Minister’s Self-Help Allowance Scheme of Bihar, under which every year about five lakh graduate youth will get free skills training as well as a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 for two years.

He also launched the renovated Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme, under which a complete interest -free education loan of up to Rs 4 lakh will be provided, which will reduce the financial burden of higher education. Under this scheme, more than 3.92 lakh students have so far received loans of more than Rs 7,880 crore.
