Indian peacekeepers of the United Nations Interim Force posted in Lebanon, in the southeastern region, have launched a computer literacy campaign for local women, which aims to increase the economic opportunities of the local community. Through this program, there is a hope of helping women empowerment. This one month training program has started from September 17, in which 25 women from Kafar Shoba, Kafar Hammam and El Habbaria villages are participating. Along with basic computer skills, along with basic computer skills, training such as Microsoft Word, Axel and PowerPoint, is being trained in widely used programs and facilities, so that they can increase the opportunities of employment for them. Commander Colonel N. Emphasizing the importance of this initiative, Gladson said, “We are enabled to make these women proficient in computer skills, to move forward with confidence, take advantage of opportunities and make more meaningful contribution in their family and society.” “Such initiatives believe in their ability and promote more inclusion and strength in the community.” Expressing, “It gives me hope that I can do more for my family and even cooperate in my children’s education.” Indian peace guard, local authorities and Awareness and Consolation Association (ACA) with coordination with a local institution called ACA, are planning to further increase the scope and geographical reach of this initiative.
