Mount Kailash is considered the holy abode of Lord Shiva. The journey here is not only a religious pilgrimage but is also considered a difficult test of faith, patience and spiritual practice. Day 1 Parikrama: Journey from Yamdwar to Dirapuk
Kailash Parikrama starts from Yamdwar, which is also known as the gate of salvation. From here the pilgrims start their journey on foot and travel about 12 kilometers to reach Dirapuk. En route, one can see the northern side of Mount Kailash, which is considered to be one of the most emotional and memorable moments for the travelers.
The first day’s journey is challenging due to altitude and cold. Many passengers face difficulty in breathing and fatigue.
Day 2 circumambulation: Dolma La Pass, the most difficult stop
The second day of Kailash Parikrama is considered to be the most difficult. On this day, pilgrims have to cover a distance of about 18 kilometers and cross the Dolma La Pass at an altitude of more than 18 thousand feet.
This route is extremely challenging due to snow, strong winds and low oxygen. On this day, Gauri Kund is also visited, which is considered very sacred from the religious point of view. Many devotees pray here and wish for their wishes to be fulfilled.
Day 3 Parikrama: End of the journey
On the third day, after completing a journey of about 12 to 14 kilometers, the pilgrims reach Jutulpuk and then complete the last phase of the parikrama. During this time, devotees feel satisfaction and spiritual joy.
Major challenges faced in Kailash Yatra
Lack of oxygen due to altitude, suddenly changing weather, icy and rocky roads, difficulty in walking for several hours, physical fatigue and mental pressure.
How to prepare before Kailash Parikrama?
It is very important to be physically and mentally prepared before going on Kailash Yatra. Travelers should start regular walks and exercise a few months in advance. Apart from this, it is important to carry warm clothes, essential medicines, oxygen support and other travel materials.
