Where was the creation of Mahabharata?
Mana village has a place called Vyas Pothi. Religious belief is that Ved Vyas Vyasa used to live in Vyas Pothi i.e. Vyas Cave. Lord Ganesha composed Mahabharata in this cave. The distance from Badrinath to Vyas Pothi is only 3 kilometers.
When and why the curse was given?
It is described in the Sanatan scriptures that Lord Ganesha was distracted by the sharp flow of Saraswati river at the time of the creation of Mahabharata. At that time, he requested Goddess Maa Saraswati to reduce the flow or slow down the sound. However, Mother Saraswati did not listen to her. At that time Lord Ganesha became angry and cursed the Saraswati river that it would disappear at the origin and reach the Hades. Due to her curse, the Saraswati river goes directly from Mana village to Patal. However, it is mysteriously manifested in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. At this place there is a confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati river.
