Delhi. Railways has made extensive arrangements for the convenience of the passengers returning after celebrating Chhath festival. For this, holding areas have also been created at 30 railway stations in Bihar-Purvanchal region where passengers can spend their time before the departure of the train. According to the release issued by the Railways on Sunday, after the conclusion of Chhath Mahaparva, a large number of passengers from Bihar and its surrounding districts will leave for different destinations. Keeping this in mind, Railways has made extensive preparations to ensure convenience, safety and smooth movement of passengers.
For the purpose of arranging passengers, crowd control and smooth operation of trains, Railways has created special holding areas at major stations in Bihar and its adjacent states. Railways has told that among the stations where hoarding areas have been created, Bihar’s Patna, Danapur, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Saharsa, Jaynagar, Barauni, Hajipur, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Sakri, Madhubani, Bapudham, Motihari, Raxaul, Samastipur, Bhagalpur, Jasidih, Jamalpur, Katihar, Jogbani, Forbesganj, Purnia, 30 stations like Kishanganj, Barsoi, Chhapra, Siwan and Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Junction, Gorakhpur, Banaras and Ballia of Uttar Pradesh are included.
Apart from this, holding areas have been created at major stations in other states of the country also. According to the Railways, the main objective of these holding areas is to accommodate the passengers arriving before time in the station premises in an organized manner and to take them to the platform in a queue manner at the time of departure of the train, so that any kind of chaos or overcrowding can be avoided.
Railways has said that all the basic facilities like proper seating arrangements, clean drinking water, fans, toilets, mobile charging points, inquiry centres, UTA and MUTS ticketing, real time train display boards and medical aid booths have been provided to the passengers in these holding areas created in and around the station premises. Necessary information is being given to the passengers from time to time through the announcement system.
Chhath songs are being played in these holding areas and at some places the importance of Chhath is being conveyed to the people through cultural programs. Food and water are also being distributed at some stations with the help of NGOs and Railways. Railways has said that CCTV cameras have been installed at the stations for the safety of passengers. Additionally, additional security forces have been deployed and the crowd situation is also being monitored through heat mapping technology. On this auspicious occasion of Chhath festival, passengers seem satisfied with the proper arrangements made by the Railways at every level.
