Ayodhya. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday appealed to the people to help those who are unable to light lamps or buy sweets on Diwali. The officers provided this information. Visiting a colony of the Nishad community in Ayodhya’s Abhiramdas ward, Adityanath said, “When Lord Ram (along with Mother Sita and Lord Lakshman) was going for exile, Nishadraj was the first person who helped Lord Ram.
He was the first person with whom Lord Rama became friends. This friendship continues from Tretayuga till today.”

The Nishad community is considered an extremely backward caste (ECB). This community believes that its lineage is linked to Nishadraj, who is described in the Ramayana as helping Lord Rama cross the Saryu river. Adityanath said that the grand festival of lights has been organized to “carry forward the memory of Tretayug”. The Chief Minister appealed to the people of Uttar Pradesh to light lamps in their homes.

He said, “If someone is unable to light the lamp for some reason, then help him.” He also met the saints here and wished them a happy Diwali. Adityanath reached various Akharas and monasteries to inquire about the well-being of the saints and presented gifts on Diwali. He first reached Digambar Akhara, where he met Mahant Suresh Das. During this, issues related to the state and society were also discussed between the two.

According to a statement, the Chief Minister also reached Bada Bhakta Mahal, where he met Mahant Kaushal Kishore Das Maharaj. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also reached Maniram Das Cantonment to meet Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, President of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. He inquired about Das’s health and wished for his long life. Meanwhile, officials said that the city of Ayodhya was illuminated with 26,17,215 lamps as part of the Deepotsav 2025 in Ayodhya on Sunday evening.

Devotees from India and abroad made the atmosphere echo in the entire city with the chants of “Shri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram”. According to an official statement, Uttar Pradesh created two new Guinness World Records: one, for lighting 26,17,215 lamps across the city, and second, for 2,128 Vedic scholars, priests and sadhaks performing Saryu Aarti simultaneously. Both achievements were confirmed via drone and certified by Guinness World Records representatives, the statement said.
