Lucknow, Amrit Vichar: On Dev Diwali, the Gods will be welcomed with 2,51,000 lamps along with the grand Maha Aarti of Mother Gomti. This event is being organized under the aegis of Shri Mankameshwar Temple under the Namostute Maa Gomti campaign with the aim of creating public awareness towards Gomti cleanliness and water conservation. Mahant Devyagiri of the temple gave this information in a press conference on Sunday.
He told that Gomti has been running Aarti and cleanliness campaign for 15 years. This year’s Dev Diwali Mahotsav will start from November 3. There will be academic competitions among the students of educational institutions on Monday from 1 to 4 pm. There will be a Rangoli and Bedi decoration competition on behalf of girl students and women from 1 to 5 pm on 4th. Thereafter the devotees will participate in lamp decoration.
Devyagiri told that to commemorate the killing of the demon Tripurasura, the gods celebrated the victory by lighting lamps. According to mythological beliefs, on the day of Diwali, the gods descend on the banks of rivers in the earth and register their presence through lamps. Mahant Devyagiri called upon the people of Lucknow to come along with their family members and donate lamps and take a pledge for the cleanliness and water conservation of Mother Gomti. Many ministers and officials of the government and administration have also been invited to the festival. Jagdish Gupta, Satya Prakash Gulhare, Shekhar Kumar, Rajeev Srivastava, Ajay Tiwari, Prem Tiwari, Amit Srivastava, Malini Chaturvedi and Upma Pandey were present in the press conference.
Dev Diwali on 5th November
Dev Diwali will be celebrated on 5th November. It is believed that on this day Lord Shiva had killed the demon Tripurasura, on the occasion of which the gods descend to Kashi and celebrate Deepotsav. The appearance of the fish incarnation of Lord Vishnu is also considered to be on this date. According to Astrologer SS Nagpal, Kartik Purnima will be at 10:36 pm on 4th November and will be at 6:48 pm on 5th November. The auspicious time for worship of Dev Diwali will be from 5:15 to 7:50 pm on 5th November.
During this period, worshiping Mahadev, Mata Lakshmi and Vishnu is considered extremely fruitful. On this day, devotees take Ganga bath or bath mixed with Ganga water, light lamps of pure ghee, offer sweets, fruits and Shami flowers. During Pradosh period, light a lamp and recite Shiv Chalisa and perform aarti. By doing this, happiness, prosperity and positivity resides in the house.
