These ten forms are called ten Mahavidyas.
Gupt Navratri comes only twice a year
According to Pandit Dwivedi, Gupt Navratri comes only twice a year. The first in the Shukla Paksha of Magh month and the second in the Shukla Paksha of Ashadha month. Because very few people know about it and its practice is done secretly, it is called Secret Navratri. It is believed that special wishes are fulfilled during this time.
Gupt Navratri is also known as Gayatri Navratri. In this nine-day long ritual, Goddess Durga is invoked with mantras from Tantra Vidya. Devotees offer special worship to the Goddess with the wish of wealth, knowledge, prosperity and spiritual progress.
Chanting of this Mahamantra has special importance
During Gupt Navratri, devotees especially chant this Mahamantra –
“Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Viche”

Secret meditation and mental chanting get special importance
Astrologer Pt. Manoj Kumar Dwivedi It is said that while Chaitra and Ashwin Navratri are important for householders, Gupt Navratri is considered special for the sadhana of accomplished men, saints and sages. During this, the devotees chant the mantras of ten Mahavidyas through mind, speech and action. Mental chanting is considered more effective and the practice is kept completely secret.
Sadhaks meditate, chant mantras and worship in solitude. The period of Gupt Navratri is considered very best for Mantra Siddhi and Tantra Siddhi. The rules of normal Navratri fast are relatively simple, but the rules of sadhana of ten Mahavidyas are said to be very strict. Only accomplished saints and experienced seekers are able to follow them completely. According to Pt. Dwivedi, during Gupt Navratri, devotees also perform special sadhana and worship for the purpose of attaining the eight Siddhis.
