Sri Jagannath Temple is established in Puri, Odisha, whose recognition is spread far and wide. Bedi Hanuman Temple is also established near this temple, which is a very ancient temple. The idol of Hanuman ji installed in this temple can be seen tied with chains. There is a wonderful story behind it, let’s know about it.
What is mythology?
According to the legend, at one time all the deities, humans and Gandharvas wished to see Lord Jagannath. All reached Puri Dham to see Lord Jagannath. Similarly, the sea also wanted to see Lord Jagannath, for which he entered the temple. Due to which the temple and devotees started suffering. Then Lord Shri Jagannath handed over the burden of protecting Puri Dham to Hanuman ji.
So tied with chains
Due to the fear of Hanuman ji, the sea stopped entering the temple. Hanuman ji started guarding the temple day and night, so that the sea could not enter. In such a situation, the Samudra tries to confuse Hanuman ji in his words. Samudra says to Hanuman ji, “Don’t you want to see Lord Jagannath in the temple?”
In the instigated words of the sea
Hearing this, Hanuman ji also feels like going to the temple for darshan. As soon as Hanuman ji enters the temple to see Lord Jagannath, the sea also enters the temple behind him. Due to the entry of the sea, the temple is damaged again.
Then Shri Jagannath ji tied Hanuman ji with a chain. So that the sea cannot fall inside the temple. It is believed that the place where Lord Jagannath tied Hanuman with chain, today the Zanjeer Hanuman temple is established there.
