Lucknow, Amrit Vichar: The Tourism Department is going to develop the tourism of the historical Yahiyaganj Gurudwara located in the capital. While preserving the religious importance, community faith and cultural heritage of the Gurudwara, a plan has been prepared for its rejuvenation with a sum of Rs 2 crore.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said in a statement issued on Sunday that the overall development of this Gurudwara related to the memories of the ninth Sikh Guru Guru Teg Bahadur and the tenth Guru Guru Gobind Singh is the priority of the government. This historical place will be given special recognition on the tourist map, so that the coming generations can know it closely. He informed that approval of Rs 2 crore has been given from the Chief Minister’s Tourism Destination Development Head. This budget will be spent on development of Gurudwara modern facilities, beautification, visitor facility center and easy access system.
The Tourism Minister said that Yahiaganj Gurdwara is an invaluable heritage of Sikh history. In the year 1670, Guru Teg Bahadur stayed here for three days while going from Patna to Anandpur Sahib. In 1672, Guru Gobind Singh also stayed at this place for more than two months. Since then this place has remained a major center of religious faith and historical importance for the Sikh community.
He said that the art gallery located in the Gurudwara complex is a center of special attraction, where events related to Sikh history are depicted. Here two orders signed by Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh and a handwritten copy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib are preserved, which initially contains the original mantra written by Guru Tegh Bahadur. This collection is extremely valuable for scholars and devotees.
