A long time ago, a Baba named Krishnadas lived in Vrindavan. Once he read in some book that if any service is done continuously for twelve years without any harm, then the seeker definitely gets the desired result. Baba decided that he would garland Thakur ji every day for twelve years, and as a result, he would only like that on the first day of the thirteenth year, Thakur ji himself should come to his hut and accept the garland from him. -Pramod Srivastava.
Baba’s service started from that day. He would go to the temple every day, garland him with love and say with a smile, “Lala, it has been so many days now, just so many more days.” Time passed and twelve years came to an end. On the last day, Baba said with great confidence, “My service is complete, now you will have to come to my hut tomorrow. I will prepare fifty-six bhog and wait.”
Next day Baba woke up early in the morning, took bath, decorated the hut and prepared fifty-six bhogs. Then he kept waiting for Thakur ji the whole day. Time passed – afternoon, evening, then night… even Shayan Aarti was performed in the temple, but Thakur ji did not come. Now Baba’s heart broke. they were filled with anger and pain
—“It was my mistake, it would have been better if I had worshiped someone else!” In anger, he destroyed the hut, destroyed the garden and left with a bundle of fifty-six offerings.
While leaving, he thought – “I gave twelve years to Krishna, now I will see by giving twelve days to Shriji.” And they moved towards Barsana. Suddenly a huge herd of cows came on the way. Baba stood aside. Time passed, but the cows did not end. Just then a small cowherd appeared. Baba asked- “Whose cows are these?” The cowherd laughed and said, “It’s from Nand Bhavan, all nine lakhs. It will take some time, you sit down.”
Baba was tired and hungry. The cowherd smelled the aroma coming from his bundle and said, “Give me some to eat too.” Baba opened the bundle. The cowherd said, “My hands are dirty, please feed me with your hands.” As soon as Baba placed the first morsel in his mouth, his eyes filled with tears. Baba asked, “What happened?” The cowherd said, “I was waiting since this morning, no one garlanded me.” Baba was shocked to hear this – “Hey, Kanhaiya you!” And they hugged him.
Thakur ji revealed his divine form. Baba became emotional, but in the next moment he said – “Now do you understand why you have come today. When I moved away from you and moved towards Shriji, you came running. When I met you at one step, then what will happen if I surrender myself at his feet!” Saying this Baba ran towards Barsana. Thakur ji ran behind him to stop him. Ultimately Baba dedicated the rest of his life at the feet of Shriji and changed from Krishnadas to Kishoridas.
