Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Government’s Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said on Tuesday that Varanasi’s Dev Diwali will reflect ‘One India, Best India’. This information was given in an official statement. The statement said that on the occasion of Dev Diwali, when the whole of Kashi will bathe in the light of lamps on the banks of Ganga, the city will present a glimpse of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.
It said, “This time in Dev Diwali, the ghats of Varanasi will be illuminated not only with religious faith but also with the cultural diversity of India. Lakhs of lamps lit on the banks of Ganga will become a living picture of the diverse traditions of the country.” According to the statement, every ghat will spread the color of different culture with its unique identity, somewhere Marathi tradition will be reflected, somewhere the customs of South India, somewhere lamps will be decorated by Maithil Brahmins, and somewhere Gujarati rangoli and decoration of plates will become the center of attraction.
The Tourism Minister said that this Dev Diwali of Kashi will be seen realizing the spirit of ‘One India, Best India’ at the global level, and it will become a unique experience for the tourists coming from India and abroad. He said that the Tourism Department has left no stone unturned in the preparations. The Tourism Minister said, “This time too, the unique flavor of Marathi culture will be visible at Panchganga Ghat, which is included in the Panch Tirthas of Kashi. The families of the Marathi locality here are busy decorating lamps in the traditional way and preparing for Ganga Aarti. Preparations for decoration are also being made in the Nepali locality located near the same ghat.
This time the color of South Indian culture will be seen at Gaurikedar Ghat. Preparations for lamp decoration, devotional music and traditional puja are in full swing in the Gauri Kedareshwar temple complex. Most of the South Indian families live here, hence a special glimpse of South Indian traditions will be seen at this ghat. Lamp decoration has also started in the old Gujarati mohalla.
The temples located around Chowk, Thatheri Bazaar and Manikarnika are being specially decorated. The official statement said that lamps will be seen burning around Dashashwamedh Ghat and Rajendra Prasad Ghat as part of the worship of Maithil Brahmins. Joint Director (Tourism) Dinesh Kumar said that on Dev Diwali 2025, 10 lakh lamps will be lit by the Tourism Department, while at the remaining ghats, local committees will light the lamps at their own level.
