Rewa/Ayodhya: Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ram Vilas Vedanti, a leading leader of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement, died on Monday in a hospital in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh due to a heart attack. A senior official of the hospital gave this information.
The official said that Vedanti was ill for a long time and breathed his last on Monday morning. Vedanti was 67 years old. Vedanti’s disciple Chhote Das Maharaj told that his last rites will be performed in Ayodhya. Vedanti’s successor Mahant Raghavesh Das told that the mortal remains of the former MP is being brought to Ayodhya today. Akshay Srivastava, superintendent of the super specialty hospital affiliated to Shyam Shah Medical College, Rewa, said that Vedanti was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning. He said that when he was admitted, Vedanti was suffering from blood poisoning (septicemia) and it was very widespread.
Srivastava told that his blood pressure had gone extremely low and his kidneys had also stopped functioning. He told that he suffered a heart attack on Sunday night and the team of doctors made every possible effort for his treatment. For this he was put on ventilator. The medical superintendent said, “But despite all efforts, he could not be saved.” He died on Monday morning.
Vedanti, who was the executive chairman of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, was in Bhathwa (Lalgaon) of Rewa district from December 10 for storytelling. The Medical Superintendent said that after the heart attack on Sunday, an attempt was made to take him by air ambulance to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhopal, but this was not possible due to poor visibility.

“His passing is the end of an era,” he said. His sacrificial life dedicated to the service of religion, society and nation is an inspiration for all of us. It is a prayer to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed soul a place at his feet and the bereaved disciples and followers the strength to bear this immense sorrow.
Ram Vilas Vedanti was born on October 7, 1958 in Gurhwa (Gudh) of Rewa district. He was associated with the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement for a long time and led the movement while living in Ayodhya. He was a Lok Sabha member from Machhilishahr (from 1996 to 1998) and Pratapgarh (from 1998 to 1999) in Uttar Pradesh. Mahant Raghavesh Das told that Ram Vilas Vedanti was a disciple of Mahant Abhiram Das of Hanumangarhi. It is believed that Abhiram Das played an important role in installing the statue of Ramlala in Babri Masjid in 1949. He told that Vedanti lived at the Hindu Dham Naya Ghat in Ayodhya and he also had an ashram named ‘Vashishtha Bhawan’.
