Kawasaki India has launched the MY27 KLX230 in India at a price of Rs 2.19 lakh (ex-showroom). This new bike is Rs 35,000 more expensive than the MY26 model, although there has been no change in its mechanical specifications. The dual-sport motorcycle is offered in a single standard variant and will be available in Lime Green and Battle Gray colours.
This time the company has also introduced the KLX230 S variant, whose price has been kept equal to the standard model. In this, due to less suspension travel, the seat height has been reduced by 50 mm, which will make it easier for short height riders to ride. Talking about the design, the KLX230 has the same slim off-road bodywork, compact LED headlight, thin fuel tank, high front mudguard and flat seat.
Its design is inspired by Kawasaki’s KX-series trail bikes and it gets a tall and high riding stance. The bike has the same 233 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine. This engine produces 19 PS of power at 7,800 rpm and 19 Nm of torque at 6,200 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
For suspension, it has a 37 mm telescopic front fork and Uni-Trak swingarm setup at the rear. Front wheel travel is 220 mm and rear wheel travel is 223 mm, while ground clearance is kept at 255 mm. The bike rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels.
For braking, it has a 290 mm disc brake at the front and 230 mm disc brake at the rear. The ABS system can also be switched off with the help of a switch on the left handlebar, providing better control on loose surfaces. The KLX230 measures 2,110 mm in length, 830 mm in width and 1,160 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 1,370 mm, seat height is 880 mm, fuel tank capacity is 7.5 liters and weight is 139 kg.
Apart from the price increase, there are no major changes in the new MY27 KLX230. In such a situation, for customers who want a better deal, buying the existing MY26 stock can prove beneficial. It is worth noting that the KLX230 was initially launched in India at a price of Rs 3.30 lakh, which was later reduced to Rs 1.99 lakh and then to Rs 1.84 lakh (ex-showroom).
