The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV will be available in 49 kWh and 61.1 kWh battery packs and will offer a range of up to 543 km on a single charge.
Toyota has revealed the Urban Cruiser Ebella in the Indian market. This midsize electric SUV is Toyota’s first fully electric offering for the Indian market and has been developed under a joint development program with Suzuki. The urban cruiser Ebella’s platform, key components and powertrain strategy is shared with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara. Its booking has started with a token amount of Rs 25,000 and it will compete with midsize electric SUVs like Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and Mahindra XEV 9e.
This electric SUV is based on the Heartect-e skateboard platform and will be produced at Suzuki Motor Gujarat’s factory. This EV-specific architecture allows sharing of many components such as batteries, electronics and electrical systems. With this strategy, Toyota will be able to keep its costs low and easily increase sales in India as well as exports.
Bookings for the urban cruiser Ebella have started from January 20, 2026, while its prices will be announced soon. It is built on a dedicated BEV platform, in which many parts like battery pack, electronics and electrical systems are shared. Talking about size, its length is approximately 4,285 mm, width 1,800 mm, height 1,640 mm and wheelbase 2,700 mm.
Toyota has confirmed two lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery options for the Urban Cruiser Ebella. It will have the option of 49 kWh and 61.1 kWh battery packs, which are also used in the e Vitara. Both variants have a single electric motor, which produces 172 HP of power and 189 Nm of torque. With the big battery, the company claims an ARAI-certified range of up to 543 km. Along with AC charging, it also has CCS2 DC fast charging support.
Talking about design, Urban Cruiser Ebella has a modern hammerhead-style front facia. It gets slim LED headlamps, integrated DRLs and the closed grille that is typical of electric cars. The BEV badge near the front fender reveals the location of the charging port. In side profile, it looks similar to the e Vitara, but it gets different 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
The cabin will have features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, panoramic roof, 12-color ambient lighting, slide and recline rear seats, wireless charging and JBL premium sound system. Apart from this, Toyota’s T Intouch connected car technology will also be provided, which will provide remote vehicle monitoring, charging status and other app-based facilities.
In terms of safety, it has Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags, high-tensile steel body structure and 360-degree camera. ADAS features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and autonomous emergency braking. Urban Cruiser Ebella will also come with 8 years battery warranty, Battery-as-a-Service option and assured buyback program. Apart from this, more than 500 BEV-ready service touchpoints and more than 2,500 trained BEV technicians have also been created across the country.
