Indore, May 9 (IANS). ‘Mango Jatra’ organized at Malwa Utsav, Indore presented a vibrant celebration of taste, tradition and farmers empowerment. This Jatra attracted a large number of citizens to taste the famous ‘Hapus’ mangoes of Deogarh and Ratnagiri.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who participated in the three-day fair organized by Marathi Social Group at ‘Rural Haat Bazaar’ complex, described the event as a symbol of national unity and welfare of farmers. He announced a financial grant of Rs 5 lakh to support ‘Lok Sanskriti Manch’.

Folk dancers welcomed the CM in a traditional manner, while stalls displaying handicrafts, artefacts and regional cuisine added to the charm of the festivities.

The Chief Minister interacted with mango growers, inspected the stalls and appreciated their dedication in bringing the country’s most coveted mangoes to the heart of Malwa.

He emphasized that such fairs connect farmers directly with consumers, ensuring that they get fair prices and fresh produce. He announced an incentive of Rs 11,000 for each of the 24 mango growers and appreciated their long-standing participation in the festival.

CM said that ‘Mango Jatra’, adorned with stalls of delicious mango dishes, handicrafts and Khadi products, has now taken the form of a unique market where culture, commerce and community meet. It further enriches Indore’s identity as a city of diversity and traditions.

In the ‘Silver Jubilee’ (25th year) edition of this program organized by ‘Lok Sanskriti Manch’, the Chief Minister praised the artists from all over India who, through their performances, fused the cultural diversity of the country into a thread of unity.

The Chief Minister described the atmosphere created by folk dances like Bhangra, Garba and Badhaai as so enchanting that it seemed as if heaven had come down to earth. He said that the arrival of these coveted mangoes in the city of ‘Maa Ahilya’ is a symbol of national unity.

The ‘Mango Jatra’ witnessed a huge turnout of people, eager to taste the delicious mango dishes like ice creams, shakes, chutneys and jams. Along with this, there were also stalls of Khadi clothes and handmade products. The event was attended by several prominent leaders, including former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, other MLAs, MPs and senior officials.
