Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider tops hybrid car sales with 3,550 units in June 2026
Sales of hybrid cars in India declined to 8,322 units in June 2026, while the figure was 9,056 units in May 2026. Thus, a decline of 8.1 percent was recorded in month-on-month (MoM) sales. However, despite this decline, Toyota maintained its strong hold and its four models contributed about 79 percent of the total hybrid sales. At the same time, Maruti Suzuki has registered positive growth in all its hybrid models.
Talking about models, Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider stood first with sales of 3,550 units in June 2026. Its 3,123 units were sold in May, which means there was an increase of 13.7 percent. At second place was Toyota Innova High Cross, which sold 2,702 units. However, its sales declined by 36.3 percent compared to 4,240 units in May, which was the biggest decline.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara took the third position with sales of 723 units. Its 594 units were sold in May, which means there has been an increase of 21.7 percent. At the same time, the recently launched Maruti Victoris has registered the highest monthly growth. Its sales increased from 269 units in May to 515 units in June, which is an impressive growth of 91.4 percent.

Sales of Maruti Suzuki Invicto also increased and it increased from 301 units to 349 units, registering a growth of 15.9 percent. Toyota Camry sales, on the other hand, remained almost stable at 191 units as against 192 units in May. Honda City Hybrid sales declined to 152 units from 173 units, a decline of 12.1 percent. At the same time, sales of Toyota Vellfire decreased from 164 units to 140 units and thus a decrease of 14.6 percent was recorded.
In this way, Toyota sold a total of 6,583 hybrid vehicles in June 2026. Although this is 14.7 percent less than May’s 7,719 units, despite this the company maintained its dominance with 79.1 percent market share. Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, sold 1,587 units, up 36.3 per cent compared to 1,164 units in May. With this, the company’s market share increased to 19.1 percent. At the same time, Honda sold 152 units in June and its market share was 1.8 percent.
Overall, there was a decline in the total sales of hybrid cars in June 2026, but Maruti Suzuki performed brilliantly by registering continuous growth in all three of its hybrid models. At the same time, Toyota retained its number-1 position in the hybrid segment on the basis of strong sales of Highrider and Innova Highcross.
