Current Creta
In August 2025, Hyundai Creta has surpassed Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza and Fronx in the top 10 SUV list
In August 2025, the midsize and compact SUV segment has again shown its grip strong, but it was not a good time for everyone. Hyundai Creta was at the forefront of the case and sold 15,924 units, while 16,762 units were sold this month last year. Thus its sales have declined by about 5 per cent. Despite this, it remains the most popular SUV in the midsize SUV segment and has long demands among Indian customers.
Tata Nexon has also given a tough competition and sold 14,004 units in August 2024 compared to 12,280 units, which is a good 14 percent increase on a annual basis. Nexon’s best performance shows that it continues to be customers’ choice. Its strength is its large portfolio, which contains all types of options for petrol, diesel, CNG and electric.
However, the sales of Maruti Suzuki Brezza saw a huge decline of 29 percent, which declined from 19,190 units to 13,620 units in August last year. Although it is still one of the top vendors, the decline indicates growing competition from new rivals, especially in the sub—-four SUV segment. Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki Fronx remained stable at 12,422 units, which is almost equal to 12,387 units in August 2024. In the compact crossover segment, Fronx is consistently performing well for Maruti and giving stable sales.

The Tata Panch has suffered the biggest loss and its sales fell 32 percent from 15,643 units in August 2024 to 10,704 units this year. Currently, Panch is now getting a tough competition from its rivals. Similarly, Mahindra Scorpio sales was 9,840 units, which is a 29 percent decline of 29 percent compared to 13,787 units a year ago.
The good thing is that Toyota’s hirider has clearly proved to be a stunning package, which increased from the last year’s 6,534 units to 9,100 units in August 2025, which shows an impressive growth of 39 percent. This boom reflects the growing popularity of Toyota in the hybrid region.

Hyundai Venue sales was 8,109 units, which is 11 percent less than 9,085 units in August 2024. Despite the fall, the compact remains a strong contender in the SUV segment. However, the sales of Kia Sonnet were limited to 7,741 units as compared to the 10,073 units of the previous year. Mahindra Thar was in the final place in the list, which has sold 6,997 units in August, compared to only 4,268 units last year. The growing sales of Thar show that people are very fond of its lifestyle image and five-door variants.
