New generation Hyundai Creta, 7-seater premium SUV and Palisade expected to be launched in India with hybrid powertrain options
Hyundai is preparing three hybrid SUVs in the next few years as part of its electrification roadmap, which includes several hybrid vehicles. The lineup will likely include an all-new three-row model, positioned above the Alcazar. It could also be joined by the next generation Creta and perhaps the long-awaited Palisade.
New generation The Hyundai Creta, codenamed SX3, is expected to be launched by 2027 and will bring significant changes from the current model. The SUV is expected to be based on an all-new platform with better proportions, a more attractive design and a new interior layout. According to reports, Hyundai has started early-stage development work on this model, while the company is preparing to introduce the new generation Venue next week.
Powertrain options are likely to include the familiar 1.5-litre petrol, turbo petrol and diesel engines, while a hybrid version is also in the works. Interestingly, a facelifted version of the Creta EV may also be launched after the launch of the ICE version in 2027. Talking about the premium range, Hyundai is considering introducing the Palisade Hybrid in India.
Internationally, this SUV is powered by a 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine and an electric motor that together produce 334 hp of power and 460 Nm of torque. Despite its large size, this setup returns a mileage of over 14 km/l. If Hyundai gives it the green signal, the Palisade Hybrid could hit Indian showrooms by 2028.
Additionally, a third and equally interesting project is a new 7-seater SUV, currently codenamed Ni1i. The SUV will be positioned between the Alcazar and Tucson and is expected to use an updated version of the 1.5-litre petrol engine with hybrid technology. Although Hyundai has not yet made an official announcement on this, it is estimated that the production of Ni1i may start by 2027.
