South Korean car company Kia Motors, which has established its roots in the Indian auto market, is now ready to enter the EV segment. According to new news, the company is planning to launch a small size electric SUV. The special thing is that like many old models, this car will also be first launched in India. The code name of this electric car is AY. The company has started work on this. By 2025, this EV can be seen on the roads.
EV6 trademark filed in India
The company has already filed a trademark in India for its electric vehicle EV6. According to sources, this electric SUV will be built on a flexible platform. That is, along with this India will be exported to many countries around the world. It is also believed that as soon as the development of this EV will accelerate, the company will also make its Seltos and Sonet electric models.

Electric and CNG options will be available by 2025
The company can convert all its models to electric vehicles by 2025. Their petrol and diesel engines will also keep coming. Along with this, Kia is also working on a CNG car. Overall, the company wants to put all kinds of options in front of its customers. So that it can satisfy the demand of all types of customers. The country’s largest car company Maruti Suzuki is also ready to enter the EV segment soon in collaboration with Toyota.
There will be direct competition from Tata and Mahindra
Tata Motors is the largest player in the EV segment. It has 90% market share. The biggest challenge before Kia in this segment is that by the time its first electric car arrives in 2025, many models of other companies will already be present in the market. There will be a dozen electric cars from Tata and Mahindra itself. However, Kia Motors has not yet commented on the news related to the EV.

By 2030, the company will bring 14 electric vehicles
Kia CEO Ho Sung Song shared the company’s EV roadmap last month. In which the company has set a target of annual sales of 4 million (40 lakh) vehicles by 2030. It will have 50% electric field powertrain and 30% pure electric vehicle. The company plans to launch 14 electric vehicles in the global market by 2030. This includes from entry level to SUV and EV pickup models. Kia accounts for about 10% of global production and about 8% of its total revenue.
The company got a growth of 87% in FY 2011
Kia Motors will produce 3 to 3.5 lakh units in India this year. Of this, about 80,000 will be exported. Kia currently exports the car to more than 90 countries. India is set to become a major global hub for South Korean car manufacturers with the projection of the Carens MPV. Even during COVID, Kia’s total business grew 87% to Rs 20,290 crore in FY 2011.
The EV6 could be Kia’s first electric car
The electric car to be launched in India by Kia Motors could be the EV6. It is believed that this electric car of Kia can be low budget. A battery pack of 77.4 KW can be found in this. Its motor can generate maximum power of 225bhp and torque of 350Nm. Its driving range can be from 600 to 650 km.
