E-Bike Taxis :: The Maharashtra government has recently approved e-bike taxis, which will promote ride-hiling services like Ola, Uber and Rapido. This decision will apply with certain conditions
Essential conditions for e-bike taxi service
– It will be mandatory for companies to keep a fleet of at least 50 bikes.
– These taxis will be allowed to cover a distance of only 15 kilometers.
– Only electric bike taxis have been approved, so that Maharashtra can get more environmentally friendly transport options.

1. Cheap and convenient journey: E-bike taxi will be cheaper and flexible option as compared to traditional taxis and auto rickshaws, especially in crowded areas.
2. Reduction in traffic problem: E-bike taxis will help reduce traffic jams, especially in busy areas like South Mumbai.
New employment opportunities
Under this scheme, about 20,000 jobs are expected to be created in the whole of Maharashtra, out of which 10,000 jobs are expected to be found only in Mumbai. State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said that the government will formulate a transparent fare policy for e-bike taxi services and will implement policies to prioritize women’s safety.
