Mahindra XEV 9S Electric has been the best-selling car in February 2026 with sales of 3,539 units
The Indian market witnessed a tremendous increase in the sales of electric cars last month and the total sales reached 20,616 units, which is 25.3 percent more than the 16,456 units sold in January 2026. During this period, Mahindra XEV 9S has emerged as the best-selling electric car, leaving behind MG Windsor EV, Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XEV 9e and Tata Harrier EV.
Talking about companies, Tata Motors stood first with 7,982 units, although its sales were 7.4 percent less than January’s 8,616 units. Despite this, Tata maintained its strong hold with 38.7% market share. Mahindra stood second with 7,168 units, registering a massive growth of 95.8 per cent from 3,660 units in January, taking its market share to 34.8 per cent.
MG Motor India stood at third position with 3,642 units, registering a slight decline of 2.4%. Maruti Suzuki stood at the fourth position with 870 units, while Kia India stood at the fifth position with 653 units, registering a huge growth of 266.9%. Hyundai Motor India Ltd sold 278 units, while Citroen India remained at the bottom with 23 units.

In the model-wise list of top 10 EVs, Mahindra XEV 9S took the first place with 3,539 units. MG Windsor EV stood second with 2,599 units and Tata Nexon EV stood third with 2,410 units. Mahindra XEV 9e stood fourth with 1,889 units and Tata Harrier EV stood fifth with 1,738 units.
After this, Tata Curvv EV (1,250 units), Tata Tiago EV (1,226 units), Mahindra BE6 (1,104 units), Tata Punch EV (1,061 units) and Maruti Suzuki Vitara (870 units) remained in the top 10. Rounding out the top 10 were MG Comet EV (699 units) and Kia Carens Clavis EV (653 units).
These were followed by Mahindra XUV3XO EV (474 units), MG ZS EV (344 units), Tata Tigor EV (297 units), Hyundai Creta Electric (278 units) and Mahindra XUV400 (162 units). Whereas the Citroen eC3 remained a very low selling model with only 23 units. Interestingly, not a single unit of Kia EV6, Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 was sold in February 2026.
