In December 2025, Maruti Suzuki Baleno topped the list leaving behind the Ford Focus, Nexon, DZire and Swift
In December 2025, Maruti Suzuki dominated the top 10 car sales list, where 7 of its vehicles were included. At the same time, Tata Motors and Mahindra also maintained their strong presence in the SUV segment. Topping the list was Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which has been the best-selling car in December 2025 with sales of 22,108 units.
Baleno sales registered a massive increase of 143 percent on an annual basis. Its strong retail demand, wide range of variants and popularity across different markets were the major reasons for its excellent performance. The second position was taken by Maruti Suzuki Swift, which sold 20,706 units and its sales almost doubled compared to December 2024.
Due to its SUV-style design and compact size, the Fronx has created its own identity in the market. It is believed that it may also become the first car of Maruti to get flex-fuel technology this year. Tata Nexon stood at third place, with 19,375 units sold. Nexon continues to be one of the most reliable compact SUVs in India.

The reason for Nexon’s popularity is its package, which includes safety, design and multiple powertrain options like petrol, diesel and electric. The fourth position was taken by Maruti Suzuki Dezire, which sold 19,072 units, while the fifth position was taken by Maruti Suzuki Swift, which sold 18,767 units. It is noteworthy that Dezire has been the best selling passenger car in 2025.
The middle section of the list was dominated by the UV segment, where Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Ertiga recorded sales of 17,704 units and 16,586 units respectively. The steady sales of Brezza reflect the sustained demand, while the Ertiga continues to be the preferred MPV for family buyers and fleet operators. This was followed by Tata Punch, which sold 15,980 units and is going to get a facelift next week.
The top 10 list ended with Mahindra Scorpio, which recorded total sales of 15,885 units. The Scorpio is expected to get an update in the coming months, while the mini Scorpio-N, based on the Vision S concept, is also being developed on the NU_IQ monocoque platform.
