Both ICE (petrol) and EV versions of Tata Punch to get major updates in 2026
Tata’s EV sales have exceeded 2.5 lakh units in the last five years. Nexon EV has become the country’s first fully electric passenger car to sell more than 1 lakh units. After this, Tata Motors has said that three new electric cars will be launched in India in the year 2026. These will include Sierra EV, new Punch EV and the first model of Avinya series based on EMA platform.
While the Sportback or SUV in the Avinya range may arrive by the end of 2026, the Sierra EV and the facelifted Punch EV will be launched before that. Considering the good response the new petrol-diesel Sierra is getting, its electric version will also be introduced in the coming months. At the same time, the new Punch has also been spotted testing several times in recent months.
Recently surfaced pictures show an updated Punch, although it is not clear whether it is an ICE model or an EV model. The Punch ICE has been on sale since late 2021 and, along with the Nexon, has given Tata a strong foothold in the compact segment. It is often included among the top sellers in SUV sales charts.

However, till now Punch ICE has not received any major update. On the other hand, the Punch EV has been on sale for almost two years and its new avatar has been confirmed for 2026. Both the ICE and EV versions are expected to get a mid-life facelift at the same time. Closed front grille and changed headlamp housing are seen in the testing model.
However, the sloping bonnet with DRLs remains the same as the current Punch EV. The charging port is not visible in the front, due to which it can also be an ICE model, although it can also be hidden under the cover. Black finished pillars and roof are also seen, as well as electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators.
Apart from this, 360-degree camera module and new aero-style alloy wheels are also visible. The side profile remains the same as the current model, while the rear is expected to get cosmetic changes with new taillamps and bumper. The existing 1.2 liter petrol engine will be offered in the Punch ICE facelift, while the range of the EV version may be improved. The interior is likely to include a larger touchscreen infotainment system, new steering wheel, updated dashboard and many new features and technologies.
