The new Bajaj Chetak will come with many updates in terms of design, features and parts compared to the existing model.
Bajaj Auto has announced the launch of the new Chetak electric scooter in the Indian market on January 14, 2026. The company has shared a ‘Block Your Date’ invite for this, in which the rear profile of the e-scooter is visible. In October 2025, the new generation Chetak was seen during testing. This will be the Pune-based company’s first major launch of 2026, which will also be followed by the introduction of the new generation Pulsar and an all-new electric commuter motorcycle during the year.
Talking about design, the new generation Bajaj Chetak will get a completely new single-piece LED tail-lamp cluster. Turn indicators and brake lights have been integrated into it. Along with this, new color options are also expected to be given. Other changes in the rear section include the rear tire hugger, redesigned number plate holder and the absence of the charging port, which has presumably been shifted to the front apron portion.
The images also reveal that the side panels have been redesigned to give a new look. The front profile is largely similar to the current model, but some minor updates have been made in it. These include shifting the turn indicators from the apron to the handlebar and Chetak branding on the headlamps. Many elements like the LED headlamps, rear grab rail and seat have been retained from the current model.
Some premium features like single-sided front suspension, TFT instrument cluster and keyless entry are not seen in this electric scooter. Instead, it has a rectangular LCD display, which is not round shaped. However, telescopic front forks are definitely seen in it, which indicates that it could be a mid-spec variant.
Talking about mechanical changes, the new Chetak is likely to get front disc brake and wheel hub-mounted electric motor. The swingarm-mounted motor used in the current model can now be replaced with a hub motor for direct power delivery. Apart from this, advanced safety features are also expected to be added to the new Chetak.
In terms of battery, Bajaj may offer the new Chetak EV with 3 kWh and 3.5 kWh battery packs as before. However, its range may increase by a few kilometers, but this has not been officially confirmed yet. More information related to this is expected to be revealed as we get closer to the launch.
