Nissan’s popular suv Patrol, which has been around for more than 70 years, is being considered for launch in India by the end of this year
The Nissan Patrol is a full-size SUV that rivals the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. The company wants to bring it to India, so that its brand image can be further strengthened. Recently, Nissan has decided to discontinue 11 models as part of its new long-term strategy, but Patrol has not been included in it. The company has placed it in the “Heartbeat” product category, which means this model is emotionally important for the brand.
This could be one of the most expensive vehicles from Nissan when it comes to India. Nissan’s Chief Performance Officer Guillaume Cartier said that the company is considering bringing some of its iconic models to India to increase excitement in the showrooms. He also informed that it can be imported as CBU (Completely Built Unit) under GSR 870 (E) rule.
At the same time, Thierry Sabbagh said that Nissan is working on options to bring Patrol to other markets including India and this has also been discussed with dealers. Cartier admitted that the high price tag of the Nissan
This indicates that Patrol will also be an expensive SUV. Its price in UAE is around Rs 60.85 lakh to Rs 98.89 lakh (AED 239,900–389,900), while in India its price can go up to around Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom). It is also sold as the Nissan Armada in some markets and is currently in its seventh generation.
It has the option of 3.8-litre naturally aspirated and 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine. The 3.8 liter engine produces 316 hp power and 386 Nm torque. Whereas the 3.5 liter engine produces 425 HP power and 700 Nm torque. 9-speed automatic gearbox and 4WD system are available as standard with both engines. Mileage ranges from approximately 9.5 km/l to 10.1 km/l.
Talking about the features, Nissan Patrol has features like adaptive air suspension, 22-inch alloy wheels, motion controlled power tailgate, 8-way power front seats (with massage function), dual 14.3-inch display, 12.8-inch rear entertainment screen, powered third-row seats and 12-speaker Klipsch sound system. For safety, it has been provided with advanced features like ProPILOT, Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking (Front and Rear), 360-degree camera, Digital IRVM and 7 airbags.
