Renault has officially announced that the new Duster will be revealed in India on January 26, 2026.
After quite some time of rumors, Renault has officially made a big announcement. The return of the famous Duster SUV to India is confirmed and the company has made it clear that its upcoming new mid-size SUV will again be named Duster. This SUV is going to be launched in India in just less than three months.
The new Duster will be revealed in India on January 26, 2026. With this, Renault will launch its new strategy ‘International Game Plan 2027’. This plan also includes a 7-seater SUV and a small electric car (A-segment EV) in the future. When the Duster was first launched in 2012, it revolutionized India’s mid-size SUV segment.
Hyundai Creta currently dominates the mid-size SUV segment in India. Many big companies like Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Toyota, Kia, Tata, MG, Honda, Volkswagen and Skoda are present in this segment, so the competition here is very tough. The sales of this segment are very high and that is why some brands even sell more than one SUV model in this segment. This segment alone accounts for about 25 per cent of total passenger vehicle sales in India.
Over time, Duster has become the choice of over 2 lakh customers in India and around 18 lakh customers worldwide. Speaking on the occasion, Stéphane DeBlaze, CEO, Renault Group India, said, “Renault Duster is not just a car, it is an iconic name. It has been the epitome of adventure, reliability and innovative technology. Its return to India shows that we are fully committed to bringing the best vehicles to Indian customers. The new Renault Duster, with its modern design, advanced features and superior performance, will further strengthen its legacy.”
The new Renault Duster will be built in India on a unique CMF-B platform, which has been tailored for the Indian market. The same platform is also used in many of Renault’s European cars. It will be produced at the brand’s long-running Oragadam plant near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The SUV will include an e-shifter for the automatic variant, a 10.1-inch OpenR infotainment display with wireless smartphone connectivity and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.
Apart from this, it will include distinctive Y-shaped patterns on air vents and door panels, leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, Type-C port and 360-degree camera. In terms of safety, the new Duster is expected to have features like 6 airbags, electronic stability control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring and autonomous emergency braking. Although Renault has not yet revealed powertrain details, it is expected to be powered by two turbocharged petrol engines with both manual and automatic transmission options.
