Sales in domestic and international markets stood at 1,71,013 units in Q3FY26, while it was 1,39,829 units in Q3FY25.
Tata Motors has registered strong growth by selling around 1.7 lakh cars in the third quarter of FY 2026 (October–December 2025). Low GST rates and strong demand during the festive season have contributed significantly to this excellent performance. Along with this, there was a sharp increase in the export operations of the company, although their share in total sales remained limited.
The third quarter of FY 2026 proved to be the best quarter ever for Tata Motors, in which the company recorded wholesale sales of 1,71,103 units. In comparison, in the third quarter of financial year 2025 (October–December 2024), the company had registered sales of 1,39,829 units, which was an increase of 22.3 percent on an annual basis. In the month of December alone, Tata Motors has registered an annual growth of 22 percent in sales.
The company also created a new record on the retail sales front. Tata Motors’ retail sales crossed 2 lakh units in the third quarter of FY 2026. The company’s wholesale sales in December 2025 stood at 50,046 units, which is 13.1 percent more than 44,230 units in December 2024. Due to retail sales being much higher than wholesale sales, the stock time of vehicles at dealerships reduced to about 18 days.

Tata Motors’ performance was strong in the SUV segment also. Bulk shipments of SUVs grew 18 per cent in Q3FY26, with Nexon accounting for 64,000 units, more than 35 per cent of the total volume. Nexon was India’s best-selling compact car in October and November. In the same segment, Punch also became the best selling car of its segment in the entire quarter, although the company has not shared its exact figures.
There was also a huge jump in the demand for CNG cars. Tata Motors sold more than 47,000 CNG vehicles in this quarter. Apart from this, an annual increase of 49.5 percent was also recorded in the sales of electric vehicles, which increased from 16,119 units in the third quarter of FY 2025 to 24,103 units in the third quarter of FY 2026.
The domestic market made the biggest contribution to the total sales. Out of 1,71,103 units, 1,68,616 units were shipped to Indian dealerships, which is 20.9 percent higher than the same quarter last year. Whereas exports stood at 2,397 units, which may be less in number, but shows a tremendous growth of 491.9 percent as compared to 405 units in the third quarter of FY 2025. A major reason for this rise is believed to be the re-entry of Tata Motors into the South African passenger car market in August.
