Tata Motors completed the month of September at a record level. The company had a total sales of 60,907 units, while domestic sales reached 59,667 units. This is 47 percent more than the same period last year. The reason for this has been included in GST 2.0 rate cuts and increased demand for festive season.
Tata has set its biggest monthly record ever in the sale of passenger vehicles, including electric cars. This increase was not limited to any one category. The company broke the records and the sale of electric vehicles almost doubled to 9,191 units. This is 96 percent higher than last year.
The sale of its CNG vehicles crossed the 17,800 units, which is more than double the second quarter level of FY 2025. In different models, Nexon has emerged as a star performance with a sale of more than 22,500 units across India last month. The SUV has so far recorded the highest monthly sales compared to any Tata Motors passenger vehicle.
Nexon has been a consistently sold car for the domestic manufacturer over the years and is available in a detailed range. Tata has cut Nexon prices by up to Rs 1.55 lakh after revised GST slab to attract buyers and directly benefit. It has a manual and automatic transmission options available with 1.2 liter turbo petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engine.
With the arrival of Adventure X Trims and other updates, Harrier and Safari also recorded their best ever. Meanwhile, Panch further strengthened its popularity in the micro SUV segment. In the second quarter of FY 26, Tata recorded a cumulative sales of 1,44,397 units with a 10 percent increase compared to 1,30,753 units of FY 25.
1,40,189 units contributed to domestic sales, while export (PV IB) increased by about five times from 823 to 4,208 units from a year ago. Tata’s electric vehicles sales in domestic and international markets increased by 59 percent to 24,855 units in the second quarter of FY 26, the company’s best quarterly electric vehicle performance so far. Now electric vehicles contribute 17 percent of the company’s total sales.
