Tata Sierra EV is expected to get two battery pack options and its range can be more than 500 km on a single charge
Tata Motors is going to launch Sierra EV in India on June 30. With this, the name Sierra will become a part of the company’s electric vehicle lineup for the first time. After launch, it will be Tata’s seventh electric car to be sold in India and will be positioned below the Harrier EV.
Although the company has not yet shared information related to battery, power output, charging capacity and range, it is believed that the electric powertrain associated with Curvv EV or Harrier EV can be used in it. After launch, Tata Sierra EV will compete with electric SUVs like Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Kia Carens Clavis EV, MG ZS EV and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella.
The new teaser released by Tata shows the front design of the Sierra EV. It has LED DRL strip spread across the entire width, LED headlamps at the bottom and closed grill design, which makes it different from the petrol-diesel version. Apart from this, vertical lighting elements and clamshell bonnet are also provided, which are part of Sierra’s identity.
The cabin of Sierra EV will be quite modern and will have features like three-screen dashboard, JBL audio system, Dolby Atmos support, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, connected car technology, electric parking brake and powered tailgate. For safety, it can be provided with many advanced features including Level-2 ADAS, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers.
It is believed that the 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs of the Harrier EV can be used in the Sierra EV. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) and dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) options can also be available with this. Its range can be more than 500 km on a single charge.
Apart from this, it is also likely to get modern technologies like DC fast charging and bi-directional charging. Recently, Tata Motors has updated the petrol, CNG and electric versions of Tiago and before this the facelift models of Punch and Punch EV were also launched.
