The Toyota Urban Cruiser Electric will get the same 49 kWh and 61.1 kWh battery packs as the E Vitara and will have a range of around 550 km.
Toyota has already released teasers of the Urban Cruiser BEV for the Indian market and it is confirmed to be launched on January 19, 2026. This model will be Toyota’s first electric car in India, developed under a strategic partnership with Suzuki. This electric SUV will be based on the platform and technology of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara.
Talking about design, the front of the Urban Cruiser BEV has sleek LED headlamps and integrated DRLs. The BEV badge near the front fender points towards the charging port. In the side profile, its look is quite similar to that of the E-Vitara, while 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are seen in it.
This electric SUV will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant and will be based on the Heartect e platform, which has been specially designed for electric vehicles. Due to the shared battery layout, electronics and other systems, Toyota can offer it at an affordable price.
In the global market, Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV is offered in two battery options with 49 kWh and 61.1 kWh. Both the variants have a single electric motor giving power of 172 HP and torque of 192 Nm. Once fully charged, its range is expected to be around 550 km.
Talking about size, its length is 4,285 mm, width is 1,800 mm and height is 1,640 mm, while its wheelbase is 2,700 mm. On the features front, it is expected to get premium features like Toyota T Intouch connected car technology, large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, fully digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control and front ventilated seats.
Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV will give tough competition to cars like Vitara, Tata Curve EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and Mahindra XEV 9e in the midsize electric SUV segment.
