TVS and Bajaj cross 50 percent EV market share amid Ola’s decline

Ola Electric’s total sales in February 2026 remained less than 4,000 units, while the market share dropped to around 3.5 percent

The market remained quite challenging for Ola Electric in February 2026. The company’s share in the electric two-wheeler segment declined to about 3.5 percent, which was in double digits at the same time last year. Its total sales in February were less than 4,000 units, due to which the company which once dominated the segment was out of the list of top-5 companies.

It is worth noting that till a few months ago, Ola Electric was at the forefront in this segment. The company has recently launched the “Hyper Service” initiative, which aims to improve after-sales services, increase availability of spare parts and accelerate training of technicians. After this step, the company says that the remaining work related to service has reduced to a great extent.

While Ola’s sales declined, traditional automakers strengthened their hold. TVS Motor Company and Bajaj Auto together accounted for about 51 percent of the total registrations in February. This is the first time that the combined stake of the two companies was more than 50 percent.

TVS led the month with 28.3 per cent market share by selling around 31,000 units, led by the iQube and Orbiter ranges. Whereas Bajaj Auto recorded domestic sales of more than 25,000 units and recorded a market share of about 22.7 percent. This Chakan-based company has also overcome the supply problems related to rare earth materials to a great extent and is now preparing to expand its Chetak portfolio.

Total electric two-wheeler registrations in February stood at more than 1.1 lakh units, though they were down about 9 per cent from January’s 1.22 lakh units. However, there has been an increase of about 46 percent in the industry compared to last year. It is clear that people are now adopting electric scooters and motorcycles rapidly.

Among other companies, Ather Energy retained about 18.4 percent stake by selling more than 20,000 units. Whereas Hero MotoCorp achieved about 11.2 percent market share by selling more than 12,000 units. Competition in this segment is going to get tougher in the coming months. Now it remains to be seen how Ola Electric improves its position.
