Hero MotoCorp plans to launch Vida scooter priced under Rs 1 lakh in India around August 2026
Hero MotoCorp is preparing to launch a new Vida electric scooter priced under Rs 1 lakh in India by August 2026. This new electric scooter will come with a 3.8 kWh battery pack and is being made especially keeping in mind those customers who till now preferred petrol scooters due to their high price.
Hero expects that the demand for electric two-wheelers from this segment will increase rapidly. With this launch, the company is also preparing for big investment. Hero MotoCorp has announced investments of over Rs 1,500 crore for FY27. This money will be spent on increasing EV production, new products, ICE scooters, brand building, connected technology and new powertrain options like flex-fuel.
Apart from this, the company will also build a second PATH Center in South India, for which a separate investment of Rs 700 crore has been fixed. This center will strengthen the aftermarket and accessories business. Additionally, the company’s monthly EV production capacity has increased from 15,000 units to 25,000 units and is expected to increase further by 50 percent in the coming weeks.
The Sri City plant in Andhra Pradesh aims to produce 2.8 lakh electric two-wheelers by FY27, compared to 1.48 lakh units produced here in the last financial year. At the same time, there are preparations to increase the annual production capacity of Vida to 6.6 lakh units, due to which it can become one of the largest EV two-wheeler manufacturing base in India.
The strong sales of Vida in FY2026 shows why Hero is placing so much emphasis on this segment. During this period, about 1.44 lakh units of Vida were registered, due to which its market share increased to 10.3 percent. At the same time, Vida’s sales increased by 129 percent year-on-year in April 2026, which was the fastest growth among the top 5 electric two-wheeler brands that month.
Apart from affordable electric scooters, Hero MotoCorp will also launch two new electric motorcycles by 2027. These include Hero Lynx and Hero Ubex designed for off-road use. Hero is also strengthening its preparations in the petrol (ICE) segment. The production capacity of Hero Destini scooter has been increased by 50 percent, while the capacity of Hero Xoom is being doubled.
